Pink is a color synonymous with Mexico. From architect Luis Barragan to the brightly painted neighborhoods of Mexico City to the pink Cantera stone facades of old San Miguelle de Allende. @summerthorntondesign stuns with this dusky pink Sayulita retreat featuring our Desert Bloom 4x4 zellige.

The interplay between texture and light is what is so exceedingly unique about Moroccan zellige. No color exemplifies this more than our Carbon Black. Rather than absorbing it, Carbon Black zellige bounces light off it’s imperfectly textured surface like ripples on water. Design by @huitlaguna 📸 by @mellon_studio

A classic by any definition — Pure White zellige is the quintessential neutral tile of now. Each wholly unique tile is formed and glazed by hand, imbued with a texture and tone that is only possible with traditional Moroccan zellige. There is no tile on earth that compares. Seen here with a lovely, warm-hued grout tone from design firm @popixdesigns 📸 by @charlotteleaphotography

Morocco is a country near and dear to Zia. It is where we produce our zellige and limestone collections, working with artisans who have mastered their crafts over generations. In support of a place that means so much to so many of us, we’re donating $25,000 to the Eve Branson Foundation’s Morocco Earthquake Response Fund on behalf of the entire team at Zia Tile and our zellige partners in Fez. The ongoing mission of this important organization is to provide young people with artisanal skills-training and to preserve traditional Moroccan and Berber crafts, enriching the lives of local families in the High Atlas Mountain communities – the very area where this devastation occurred in the Asni Valley. This Earthquake Relief Fund will direct aid where assistance is needed most, initially helping to meet the immediate needs of families with food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter. The Fund will then transition to focus on recovery efforts in the impacted areas to restore damaged homes, rebuild infrastructure, and more as needs evolve.
