Outdoor Tiles

Our picks

Great design meets the great outdoors and we have plenty of tile suitable for your patio or yard. Ceramics and Cotto work in all climates, while the remaining lines are best in non-freeze/thaw weather. Larger format tiles cover patios with charm, while bright zellige lines pools like no other. Think outside your home when creating a place you love.

Many of our tiles are great outdoor options. If the space is in a freeze/thaw climate, i.e. if it snows in the area, that is a consideration. Here’s a quick list of tiles suitable for an outdoor installation:

  • Non-Freeze/Thaw Climates: Cantera, Cement, Ceramics, Cotto, Cotto Allende, Limestone, Terra Forms, Terrazzo, Zellige

  • All weather: Ceramics, Cotto

Pool surrounds showcase tile in a major way. From blues that blend to pops of contrasting colors, make the most of any outdoor escape with these prime picks:

  • Glazed Zellige: Handmade Moroccan zellige tiles have been used in fountains and pools in Morocco for centuries. Capture endless reflections in these glistening gems.

  • Cotto Allende: Available in glazes from matte to glossy, these glazed terra cotta tiles offer a slightly quieter alternative to Zellige while boasting distinctive colors.

  • Ceramics: The most uniform of our tiles, Ceramics are an easy option to mix and match. Select from matte, satin, and glossy finishes to create solid or patterned pool surrounds.

First, please sweep all tiled areas regularly, to avoid any buildup of debris or possible staining. All of our tiles should always be cleaned with a pH-neutral cleaner, such as Miracle Tile and Stone Cleaner. For heavier stains, we recommend Miracle Sealants Heavy Duty Cleaner (Acid Substitute). Remember, we’re a call or email away to help with any more specific guidance, if there’s ever a need.

When installing outdoor tiles, preparation varies depending on the surface. Please work with an experienced installer to confirm the best surface treatment prior to your installation. For concrete, make sure the installer uses mortar and grout on an even surface that has been fully cured.

We have seen clients create beautiful furniture covered in Zia Tile, but cannot guide this process. Always use tiles approved for outdoor use in your climate, sealing properly and regularly. To tile a table or other furniture for outdoor use, ensure you work with an installer who can miter the edges for a seamless finish.
