TERRA COTTA WITH A TOP COAT

Named for the historic city of San Miguel de Allende, near where these hand-hewn tiles are made, this collection of glazed terra cotta marks the evolution of Zia's Cotto line. Sharing the same high-fired clay foundation as Cotto, Cotto Allende introduces a range of glazed finishes that produce smooth surfaces, subtle crazing, and an entirely new spectrum of shades.

Allende also means “beyond,” a fitting description of this glazed material. Each tile is hand-formed and high-fired before meeting its glaze, while each colorway is specially designed with varying glossiness and speckling, showcasing the artistry in each piece.
